Long Distance Relationships* my story

Hi guys!
So, today I thought that I could chat with you about a very common problem nowadays: LONG DISTANCE RELATIONSHIPS! I am here to tell you my story, and I hope I can help you in this matter, giving you some advice and showing you how your story can have a beautiful happy ending.

First things first, my situation:
Me and my boyfriend are together for almost six years (yes, it seems a life time!), and the majority of those years, we were separated. Since 2012, he is studying at Bragança's University, here in Portugal, but it is 5/6 hours away from me, from were we both live.
I remember very clearly the night we both discovered that he had to go away... It was a very sad night. I thought that my life was ruined, as the relationship. But, thank God, everything went well, and as planned.
I discovered that, if we wanted to, we could be together and happy. He tries to come home to see me every weekend (so cute!) and I try to go there every month or every two months (I can't go more often because of my job).

So, I will give you some tips, that could help in the "TRANSITION PERIOD":
(the "transition period" is the time in which you are getting used to it)

1. Be positive: that is a very important part of the process. Everything starts in you, and if you are negative, bad things can appear more often. Stay positive, think about all the good things and nice moments of your relationship. That will help a lot, trust me!

2. Surround yourself with friends: having support is crucial! If you tell your friends your situation, they will help you, and be your shoulder to cry when you need. You will feel more safe and confident.

3. Keep showing your love towards him: dispite the distance, you are in love, you are boyfriend and girlfriend. Cute text messages are welcome, use Skype and Facebook to contact. Say "I love you" every day. He needs to hear you like you need his cuddles. Tell him your day so he can feel that he is part of your life, as always. Show that nothing has changed!

4. Write a diary or take pictures everyday: if you keep all the nice moments of your life, you can share them with him after. He will appreciate that very much.

5. Don't be afraid to miss him: if you feel sad, it's normal. He is far away and you miss him, that is totally fine. You should accept it and tell him that you miss him. He will support you as you support him. You are one, remember that!

In my personal opinion, long distance relationships are difficult to bare but it is so worth it! When the day comes, and you see him coming back to you, it is the best feeling ever! This September, my boyfriend went away for the fourth time (fourth year) and it was not easy. Every year is as hard, or more hard, than the before. But I believe we are strong, and I believe are love is strong! We are going to survive this and be happy. If he is reading this: BABY, I LOVE YOU SO MUCH! I MISS YOU!

So, that is all for today!
I know it is a very sad theme to talk about but, nowadays, it is such a common thing. I hope my story can inspire you and help you being more positive about this problem.

My experience with: Gel Nails!

Hi guys!

I thought very much about what should be our topic of conversation today, and then it hit me... my new nails! I discovered that it was a bit of a "tabu" talk because everyone wants to do it but, at the same time, everyone is afraid to do it! That was what lead me to post something about this: to demystify all your fears! :)

So, about two months ago, I made the decision to transform my nails for a very important event: I decided to make gel nails. My boyfriend invited me to go to his prom at his college and I was very worried about my nails at the time because they were ruined! So, I thought: "I have this prom now, and three days later we are going to Rome for a little "vacation" trip. Why not have beautiful nails at both ocasions?" It was the best decision of my life!

(MY) TRUTH ABOUT GEL NAILS:

I always had very short and very ugly nails that would break in first chance they had so I was never able to have those long, shiny, beautiful, luscious nails that I saw on another girls. I was always sad. But now that I can make my own decisions, I researched a lot about the theme and I asked questions to people who had the experience already.

Everyone thinks two things about gel nails:
a) that they are very high maintenance;
b) that it will ruin your own natural nails;

None of this is true!

First things first: nowadays, doing gel manicure is a normal thing. The majority of the hair salons are fully prepared to do it for you, with a real good quality and a very competitive price! You must ask all the questions that you have to your beautician before you made your decision: that is crucial!
Secondly: you must have a competent beautician taking care of you! Some "nail girls" can ruin your natural nail in the filling of the nail process. If she fills your nature nail too much, before putting the gel, your natural nail will be so thin, so weak, and it will be ruined. We should research what is your type of nail and find a competent beautician, that knows what she is doing (like mine!), to take care of your babies and keep them safe!

If you are wondering, my beautician is in Barcelos, Portugal, near to my house. She is so competent and so nice! I love her so so much! I will link her facebook page down below so you can see her work on the nails, if you are interested. Her name is Manuela, she is a doll!

So, here they are: my pretty nails!
This is my third look: just white gel in three nails and glitter in the thumb and in the ring finger.

So, that is all for today!
I hope you enjoyed this little post about a common problem of our days. Every girl thinks about it once in her life, so it's good to be informed about it.
Don't forget it: information is key!
DON'T DO IT IF YOU DON'T KNOW NOTHING ABOUT IT!
BE SAFE AND YOU WON'T REGRET IT! :)

If you have more questions don't be afraid to ask: comment down below, ask questions on facebook, twitter or instagram. I will link my instagram and twitter down below to, and Dany will do the same this week! Send me a tweet, I will love it!

Love you guys so much! See you next time!

Special Review: Chanel Lipstick*

Hi cuties!

Here we are again, now in June. The summer is almost here, it is hot outside, the sun is shinning, all is beautiful and colorful!

And talking about color...

Today I thought that I could do a special review of a special present that my boyfriend gave me.
I bring you: the Rouge Allure Velvet Lipstick by Chanel!

So, just to get started, this is a limited edition lippie. It is a very smooth and creamy lipstick. I got it  this past March and, since that day, I wore it almost every single day just to test its texture and durability on the lip.

It has a magnet on the top, so you could open it and close it in an easy way, and keep the lipstick safe and without marks.

After all this time, I made my decision about this product: it's a win in some parts but it could bring some problems to several people, depending on the type of texture that you like on the lip.
I'm a matte lippie person, so creamy products like this one, can be a difficult task for me. It slides very well on the lip, so you don't need to be worried with that. It's not like those matte or retro matte lippies from M.A.C. that are very dry on the application and on the lip.
For me, in the summer, those are my favourites because they don't slide off so easy. Creamy products are not recommended for the summer because of the high temperatures - they almost boil!

This is a product that would be definitly one of my winter favourites, specially on the holiday season!
But I got it for this summer because of the color! I fell in love with this color! It is a deep, power, bright pink, almost magenta. I was looking for a bright color to my lips for this time of the year because summer is a very fun and happy season. We all love the bright colors of summer, and neons for parties!

This one is in number 50, called "La Romanesque". I got it at Sephora.
In my opinion it is a luxury product. Not everyone is willing to spend 36 euros (or 36 dollars) to have this baby in the house.

So, that is all for today!
We hope that you all enjoyed this new post.
We love you all so much, and we are sorry for the lack of posts in this past times...

Traveling | Why you should visit Portugal :)

Hello beautiful ones! :)

Today we bring you something a little different that we thought you might enjoy!

Since summer is nearly upon us and you are probably trying to find a lovely yet affordable place to spend your summer vacations, we decided that we would give you some suggestions! :)

This week: PORTUGAL!

I know what you're thinking: "yeah right, of course you are going to talk about your own country!". But, hey! Who would give better advice on why you should visit somewhere than a local? Besides it is a true gem! Not only is it beautiful, it is also really affordable! :)

So, I would like to tell you how much you would love to visit this beautiful country! :)

I have been to almost everywhere here in Portugal and I can tell you: It is WORTH IT! :)
What I love the most about it is the fact that there is a little bit of everything for everyone! So today I will adress three locations: Oporto, Lisbon and Algarve. :)
If you love cultural tourism you should start by visiting cities like Porto (or Oporto):

It has beautiful piers.

Gorgeous monuments. This one is called "Torre dos Clérigos".

And a vibrant nightlife!

So this city is very vibrant and full of monuments and museums for you guys to visit!
Another city you should visit is, of course, the capital: Lisboa (or Lisbon) for almost the same reasons you should visit Porto!

It is so colorful and beautiful, it will definitly take your breath away :)

I mean, just look at that!!

And this is "Mosteiro dos Jerónimos".

Now, moving on to relaxation and sunbathing :)
If you know Portugal, you know Algarve. You might have heard something about it's beaches or you might have actually been there already. Anyway it's reputation is well earned :)

I don't know about you, but I think this comes realy close to paradise on earth :)

Now, we couldn't end this post withou even mentioning Portugal's AMAZING food so, here you go! :)

This is "Arroz de Pato":

This is "Tripas à Moda do Porto":

This is a sample of two of Portugal's finest products: Bread and olives.

Hungry yet? Here's a "Francesinha" :)

And finally, you cannot leave Portugal without having tried a "Pastel de Nata" :)

Hungry yet? :)

We hope you liked this post and we would love to know what you thought, so hit the comment section and leave your opinion!

Special Review of the Month*: the NAKED BASICS palette

Hi guys!
So, it's true! We're finally in 2015! We hope you had a wonderful time with all your friends and family. We are so sorry, again, for being away from the blog for more than a month... I know it is not an excuse but the exams and the holidays killed us! But now we are back and we are here to stay! 2015 will be an even better year, we hope!

So, today I thought that it would be nice if I picked one of my recent palettes that I've received and make a review. So that is what I did!

Here I bring you, the NAKED BASICS palette.

I know it's not a new thing on the shelfs but here in Portugal they take a little more time to get it on the display to buy...
So, first, let's talk about the box, the exterior package.
It is a sleek box, in a taupe color which is very chic, in my opinion. The size of the palette is perfect for travel or just to have a quick and simple makeup on the run, in the elevator, in the car... In the back of the box, there's a description of the eyeshadow colors that are inside of the palette, and the list of the ingredients, of course!

The palette has six colors: one shimmer and five totally matte.
The shimmer color is a champagne color and the name is VENUS. I think that is a well known eyeshadow from urban decay, and you can find it in another palettes too. The matte colors are a yellow-toned beige, a pink-toned color, a nude base for the lid, a matte brown and a dark black. The first matte yellow-toned color is FOXY; the pink-toned one is WALK OF SHAME (or W.O.S); the nude is NAKED 2; the brown color is FAINT and finally the black is CRAVE.
These are the perfect colors if you want to create an easy, simple and chic nude eye makeup. They are so easy to aply and the pigmentation is awesome! It is so creamy too!

The size of this palette is also interesting. It is not too small or too big: it's perfect! For me, I'm always travelling and on the run, it's my favourite palette to get on THE GO! It is always in my purse because I can transform my day makeup to a night makeup in the bathroom, with this palette, in 5 minutes! How cool is that?!

Here in Portugal, the palette retails for 27 euros, but when I bought it at Sephora, I used a discount that I had from my birthday and it costed 23 euros. Not bad!
If you are interested in this palette go to Sephora!

So, that is all for today!
We missed you guys so much in this past month of December. We apologize again for our "disappearance".

Baking with Dany | Chocolate Cake

Hi guys!

One of my favourite hobbies is baking and today I want to share with you a Chocolate Cake Recipe that is to die for and is also really easy! My topping actually turned out to be too runny but, oh well, it was delicious anyway! :)

So, you will need the following ingredients:

For the batter:
- 225 gr. of chocolate
- 175 gr. of butter
- 6 eggs
- 4 tbsp of flour
- 225 gr of sugar

For the filling and topping:
- 225 gr. of chocolate
- 225 ml of double cream

Preparation:
1. Start by preheating your oven to 180ºC and greasing two cake pans and lining them with parchment paper.

2. Melt your butter and chocolate together by placing them in a heat proof bowl in a pot with boiling water.

3. Take your chocolate and butter out of the heat, sift in the flour and mix until there are no lumps.

Then add the sugar and mix.

4. Separate the egg yolks from the egg whites.

Add the egg yolks to the chocolate mixture always mixing to make sure that the egg yolks do not scramble.

5. Beat your egg whites until stiff and fold half of them in to the chocolate mixture. Then, add the remaining egg whites and mix,

6. Divide the batter between the two cake pans as evenly as possible, As you can see one of my cake pans is bigger than the other. Somehow I was under the impression that they were both the same size but obviously they are not (good one Dany!) so I just rolled with it! Bake for 20-35 minutes or until a tothpick inserted in the middle comes out clean.

7. Now, while our cakes are cooling, we can get started on the topping wich is as simple as it gets! Using the same method we used to melt the butter and chocolate, melt the chocolate and the double cream. When your cakes are completly cool you take one of them out of the pan and cover it with your topping mixture. Then, place the other cake on top, cover it with the topping and work it with a spatula!

I hope you liked this recipe! Don't forget to show us your results if you try it! Share them with us on instagram with #bakingwithdany !

Hello everyone!

Today we bring you our very first haul! We went to a little make-up store in our city and inevitably, we ended up getting a few items.
We hope you like the products we got!

First and foremost, I needed a wintery colored lipstick. We ended up buying two lipsticks and a lip pencil! This is "Adorable Matt!" by Essence:

And this is "On The Catwalk!", also by Essence:

The pigmentation is amazing and they are both really easy to apply!
Now for the lip pencil, this is from Pollié and the number is 203:

Of course we had to buy some nail polishes and these are the ones we picked:

Last but not least, "The mattifying compact powder" by Essence:
